For those of you connecting with Jacob's page, especially friends from Spain, we wanted to share some photos of our recent trip that reminded us of Jacob's time there and reminded us he was with us every day. We followed most of his itinerary that we found when we discovered his journal from the trip all written in Spanish.

Hey Jacob, I assumed that the next time we'd see each other would be at our High School reunion. No worries though, we will have our reunion one day in a bigger and better place. Your entire Maryknoll family will keep your memories alive...we'll surely miss you!!! To the Almanza family, you are so blessed to have shared your lives with someone with so much faith, spirit, and happiness. Please accept my deepest condolences during this extremely difficult time. |

Although I haven't spoken to Jacob in almost a year, I always regarded him as a close friend, almost like a brother, dating all the way back to our carefree days in high school when we would both play Basketball together for endless hours at a time. One thing I always noticed about Jacob was his happy demeanor about everything, even through the bad times. He always kept his head up high and put a smile on his face because it just seemed like he appreciated life...a lot more than I did. He was there for me when I was growing up and I will never forget the precious friendship and happy memories we had throughout our adolescent years. I miss you man...you will always be in my prayers and I know now that you are in a better place...I also send my blessings and prayers to Jacob's surviving family (thank you to Jacob's parents for being there for me throughout high school...my thoughts and prayers are with you as well). |

I listened to Lani today speaking of seeing a shooting star and friends seeing a honu poking his head out of the water where they had scattered some flowers and I thought of how Jacob had touched our lives, my life. For me Jacob will be in the small miracles; a star, a honu, a rainbow, the love of family and friends, just appreciating each and every day. Thank you Jacob. Aloha |

Well, Jake...i suppose this is goodbye, but not forever. We'll see each other someday again, and when we meet up we'll both be in full health and basking in total splendor. I admired your courage in high school drumming for an otherwise underdog band. I'm sorry for not getting to know you better, but i suppose we'll have a lot of time to make up for it when I catch up to you. My prayers to your family...Merry Christmas...God bless. I'll end on a funny note, but this will probably be looked at as rather strange, but here goes. When we were freshman (or beforehand, actually) I think i met you in summerschool, perhaps it was in weight training. Anywayz you were one of my 1st highschool friends. 2ndly (heres the wierd part) I envied your guns man. There I said it :) and now im submitting it. God bless, bro. |

I met my precious nephew for the first time at our family reunion. He stole my heart at that very moment. When we said goodbye I asked him to fight but I guess he was already heaven bound. |

My favorite memory of Jacob was when he was a young boy. Cielo and I took Jacob and Joshua to see the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie in Kailua. He was always laughing, playing games and that smile of his was oh so cute! My sincere condolences to the Almanza family. |

Jacob, We always had that special oldest to youngest bond, but recently you reversed the roles on me and taught me so many things about life, family, and friends. You also taught me what it meant to be a warrior. Your earthly shell could not hold your warrior spirit. No wonder you were such a HUGE UH Warriors fan. I look forward to being touched by your spirit and seeing you out on the ocean. You will always be in my heart. I love you "PIKO". |

My favorite memories of Jacob are of him as a teacher. He created and taught a lesson on honus for my son Kanoa, who in turn taught his sister Zoe. I'll never forget the intensity of Jacob's message and his skill at holding Kanoa's attention! Jacob taught me so many lessons. The ones that stand out are about the alkaline diet, driving shortcuts in Kaneohe, and what it truly means to have faith. I even had a chance to see Jacob teach strangers! When he and I visited the Waikiki Aquarium, many tourists walked by us, asking each other questions about the fish. Jacob couldn't resist - he started answering peoples' questions and giving them personal tours. Lucky for them - and lucky for us - that Jacob so generously shared his knowledge and passions in life. His lessons will endure. |

Jacob is my hero. We grew up apart but I was fortunate to have spent time with him one weekend in San Diego, while he was visiting my other super cousin Cielo. That was all we needed, our relationship grew immediately strong. His funny charm, his lively chat. A wonderful memory I have is at the time we were expecting and I told him I really liked his name, he allowed me to name my baby Jacob, in fact he insisted. HaHa. Too bad Olivia is a girl. I will cherish the time we spent talking about everything from Our Loving God to sports and football. I love you and will forever carry your memory dear to my heart. Rest now my beautiful cousin you are healed. |

My favorite memories of you are when we used to be at the house together, chatting and laughing amongst ourselves. You got my humor and I got yours. We watched a lot of the Price is Right and Family Fued.We swore the next time you could fly we'd go to these places and watch these games in person.I told you you'd do great playing Price is Right and knew you wouldn't listen to the audience but just do your own thing. Thanks for all the eating out dates, and for helping me to convince dad that Yoony's Korean Bbque would be great for dinner on Fridays. I LOVE YOU "JIB"!!!! |
