On December 14, 2005 at 10:00pm, Jacob returned home.
A Celebration of Life was held for Jacob on December 23, 2005, at St. Ann's Church in Kaneohe.
At the end of December, Jacob's ashes were scattered in Kailua Bay and on Maui.

Hi Jake,
Back from our annual trip to Maui and our time with you there. The whale watch was different, but thanks for bringing those 6-7 whales to give us a show. We also knew you were there in the moon and stars, the wind (like taking Dad's hat as we came back in to Maalaea), and the deep blue sea off of the Mala boat ramp. I thought a lot about our trips together, and all our little habits. And of course, we had the customary meal at Cheeseburger in Paradise. We will be back in Maui next year.

You were in my dreams again, right before the day dawned on me...I opened the front of a secretary desk finished in shiny dark veneer to find a cluttered mess of items in one of the wide pigeon holes. Somehow knowing it was your desk I was not as shocked by the repulsive disarray of baseball cards, notes, and whatever else. Your things were always scattered, but your mind was always so clear. So I reached in to pull something out (since brothers have eternal access to each other's stuff, right?) and I came up with some folded papers, then identifying them as sheet music. And all I can remember from the title of the piece is "O Holy One". I would say you gotta stop doing this to me, but I could never ask you to live in any other place than my dreams. Thanks for being music to me my brother. |
